Mu Tao glanced at Ye Qiu, who was watching foreign videos and articles in the corner. “Hmph, your words sound just like Ye Qiu’s usual remarks. If you believe him, we might as well watch those foreigners slander our country,” he said, his voice thick with sarcasm as he saw Ye Qiu nodding along while watching the videos.
“Those are only introductions about how great the U.S. is. Who knows, maybe he wants to immigrate there someday!”
The more Mu Tao spoke, the angrier he became. He came to the University of the Capital to contribute to the country, and the other three shared his ideals. Yet, Ye Qiu refused to study, seemingly content to binge on those foreign praise videos. If it weren’t for the two others holding him back, Mu Tao would have beaten him up long ago!
“But Ye Qiu continually watches those videos to learn foreign technologies! Aren’t those videos showcasing their new research?” Qiu Xiangfei interjected, pulling Mu Tao back to avoid a conflict, mainly fearing Mu Tao might actually hit Ye Qiu.
“Don’t let him brainwash you; he’s only watching those foreign videos that mock Huaguo.”
Fuming with rage, Mu Tao continued, “Even if there’s cutting-edge research in the background, do you really think he can understand the experimental process just by glancing at the finished product?”
Qiu Xiangfei thought to himself: No point telling you; he really is something else.
With doubt in his voice, Qiu Xiangfei remarked, “He really can.”
Seeing Qiu Xiangfei’s look of faith, Mu Tao rolled his eyes and sat down next to him.
When dorm leader He Yuanlong entered, the dorm had returned to a quieter state. Qiu Xiangfei was reading at his desk, while Ye Qiu sat at his, everything focused on the computer playing videos of foreign inventions—this was a daily routine for him. Meanwhile, Mu Tao glared at Ye Qiu from across the room, his eyes full of rage, as if ready to throw a punch at any moment.
He Yuanlong glanced at the time and called everyone to attend a lecture together.
“Is the auditorium even big enough for Ye Qiu?” Mu Tao remarked coldly, eyeing the space between them.
Ye Qiu reassured him with a calm tone, “Don’t worry; the auditorium can seat hundreds. Surely, there’s room for both of us.”
Mu Tao wore an expression like he had just eaten something unpleasant. Who’s worried about whether there’s enough space for him?
Delusional!
Despite Mu Tao’s strong desire to avoid going with Ye Qiu, the group of four ended up going together, thanks to Qiu Xiangfei and He Yuanlong.
From the outside’s perspective, it seemed they were all good friends.
Those who visited the University of the Capital for presentations were all influential figures. The auditorium was packed, with latecomers even sitting on the floor. Although Ye Qiu and his friends had left early, they arrived to find no seats available, forcing them to sit on the steps at the front of the hall, which at least kept them close to the stage.
Seeing Ye Qiu listening intently, brows furrowed, Mu Tao felt a rush of satisfaction and couldn’t help but comment, “So, wasn’t someone constantly saying the moon is rounder abroad? What do you think now that you’re seeing it for yourself?”
“Even though the moon’s radius is 1,737.10 kilometers and it could appear different in varying dimensions, it would be impossible in areas of the same latitude. The idea of ‘abroad’ is quite broad indeed.” Ye Qiu replied, glancing out the window at the moon before turning back to Mu Tao.
Seemingly contemplative, he added, “Are you looking for the fullest moon? The fifteenth day of the lunar month has the moon directly opposite the Sun in relation to Earth; that’s when the moon is at its fullest.”
Mu Tao was left speechless.
Grinding his teeth, he managed to say, “Thanks a lot.”
“No need to thank me,” Ye Qiu responded with a curious glance and a warm smile, perhaps noticing something different about Mu Tao today.
“We’re all roommates,” he added.
Mu Tao felt his anger peak upon seeing Ye Qiu’s reaction. As if I didn’t know the moon’s size remains the same; this guy is getting better at playing dumb!
Meanwhile, the professor’s lecture was nearing its end. After finishing, the host invited questions from the students. Although it was formally a lecture, discovering hidden talents during the interactive session could lead to being recruited by the professor, so everyone participated enthusiastically.
A few students expressed their respect to the professor until Ye Qiu slowly stood up.
A jolt of worry shot through the hearts of the three.
Ye Qiu stood amidst their anxious stares, stating, “The U.S. has made preliminary discoveries regarding levitation technology. Why hasn’t our country mastered this technology yet? I believe we’re going in the wrong direction with its development…”
The trio felt their hearts crumble: “……”
Ahhhhhhh!
I knew this would happen; please, someone take him away!
“This is that guy who has a boyfriend yet cheats—what’s he going to do now?”
“Does he dare to question the professor right here?!”
The author has something to say: Thank you for your patience, little cuties. This chapter has been a long time coming!
The atmosphere fell quiet after Ye Qiu’s words.
“This student, your question…”
The host wished he could slap himself; why did he pick such an eccentric person to call upon?
He could already imagine being laughed at by his colleagues as he faced ridicule.
The professor suddenly seemed more awake, realizing the problem.
“You are absolutely right! With your suggestion, our country’s levitation technology can advance further!”
“The development of our nation needs talents like you; I believe we can further our dialogue.”
Hearing this, the crowd looked at Ye Qiu with jealousy. They had heard rumors that the professor was looking to recruit students, and it seemed that Ye Qiu was in line for it.
“Who knows if what he said is true? He might just be talking nonsense; he’ll probably come back soon with his tail between his legs.”
“Unseen showboating can be fatal.”
“How can the professor be so patient, listening to him banter?”
In stark contrast to the professor’s excitement, Ye Qiu calmly replied with a nod before returning to his seat.
“Ye Qiu, is what you said true? Will our country really possess levitation technology within a year?” Mu Tao asked curiously, drawing the attention of nearby students.
